Komodo Leisure Cruise, Rangko Cave, and Wae Rebo Village

What to Expect:

When people talk about West Flores, the Komodo Dragon is inarguably the first thing that comes to mind. Or perhaps the only thing. However, this island has so much more to offer.  From spending a night in an ancient village to swimming in a pool inside a limestone cave, these are the little-known hidden gems for those seeking off-the-beaten-track exploration. But of course, a trip to Flores is not complete without visiting Komodo National Park. During this 7-day trip, you will have the opportunity to explore all that West Flores has to offer.

Highlights:

Explore Komodo Islands National Park, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature

Spend 2 nights on a phinisi boat

Spend a night with the Manggaraians at Wae Rebo Village and witness the unique local traditions

Check in to your room and take some time to freshen up before commencing your half-day tour to Rangko Cave. Head to Tanjung Boleng where you will take a traditional boat to the cave area. The  30-minute boat ride followed by a short trek will take you to the beautiful Goa Rangko. Bring wet slippers and swimsuit if you wish to swim in the natural blue pool inside the cave. Day 2: Labuan Bajo – Wae Rebo Village

Following an early breakfast and check-out, meet your guide in the lobby and head to Denge Village. The drive takes approximately 5 hours’ drive excluding lunch break. Denge Village is the starting point of your trek and it takes around 2-3 hours to get to Wae Rebo Village (depending on your physical conditions). Witness the locals’ daily life and how the ancient traditions are preserved in cone-shaped houses at the elevation of 1200m above sea level.

There will be a simple welcome ceremony and blessings for your short stay at the village. The head of the village will then show you around and give you brief information about the history the village. Please note that there is no internet reception, electricity, and the village is accessible on foot only. You will dine and spend the night under one roof with the Wae Rebo community, sleeping on a handwoven pandanus mat. Bring along some mosquito repellent.
